About this coffee

Guatemala Manos de Mujer coffee is produced by indigenous women in the Cuchumatan mountains of Huehuetenango, near the Mexico border. These women, now landowners due to the impacts of civil war and migration, are recognized by the ACODIHUE cooperative for their contributions to their households and the economy. Only 22% of ACODIHUE's annual production is designated as Café con Manos de Mujer, a refined selection of coffee varieties such as Red and Yellow Bourbon, Typica, and Caturra, grown at 1500 meters above sea level. The cooperative also invests in the community, offering programs like vegetable gardening to enhance women's farming skills and income.

Flavor

The 2022 lot of Guatemala Manos de Mujer exhibits many of the same exceptional qualities from prior harvests, with sweetness and balance across the roast spectrum. This year, lighter roasts display a bright acidity, juicy body and notes of tart cherry, honey, maple syrup, stone fruit, and vanilla. Darker roast styles taste fantastic with a syrupy body and concentrated sweetness that takes the form of fudge, cola, dulce de leche and toasted marshmallow. This coffee shines at all roast levels and works very well in any brew method, but we particularly enjoyed this coffee as deliciously sweet single-origin espresso.
